About me

Learn more about what motivates me and where I come from.

home To the North

Northern German coolness paired with heartfelt openness, curios about the World and the desire to explore it, have shaped me. Born in Hamburg, raised in Schleswig-Holstein, for me, the feeling of home has always somewhat been linked to water: be it swimming in the Baltic Sea, feeling the wind at the North Sea Coast, walking along the Alster River or simply watching the ships at the landing bridges. Be it professionally, for leisure or as a volunteer, I love to travel and discover the diversity of Europe and its cultures. Yet, my heart always swells when I come back home from a trip and see the cranes in Hamburg Harbor in the distance. This is when I realize, I will be back home soon.

Passion for study and profession

After finishing high school in 2009, I left Hamburg for a brief while and moved to Gießen (Hesse) in order to obtain my Bachelors Degree. At the Justus Liebig University (JLU) I studied history and Communication studies. For my Masters Degree in Media Studies, I attended the Humboldt University in Berlin. Throughout internships and other avocational activities, I discovered my passion for communications. Thus, after finishing my studies in 2015, I started to work as a fulltime PR manager. Until my election to the European Parliament in 2019, I was in charge of the communications team at the headquarter of a German mid-sized company.

PASSION FOR EUROPE

The 2009 European elections were my first nation-wide elections: I voted for the FDP, since I was convinced by their commitment to continued European Integration. During my studies, I joined the party, got involved in educational politics and discovered my passion for European politics. In 2014, I was elected to the board of the European Liberal Youth (LYMEC) for the first time. Furthermore, from 2018 to 2020, I was President of the Organization with around 200,000 members in almost 40 countries.

Close to my heart

During the last years, I have visited more than 34 countries within as well as outside the European Union. I was able to get to know many young people and their personal stories. Finding out, just how similar our dreams, but how different our challenges are, has inspired me and is at the core of my policy. I am working towards a Europe, in which young people have equal opportunities, regardless of their background.

Election to the European Parliament

In 2019 I decided to run for the European elections on behalf of my party, FDP. I was elected both the primary candidate for the Junge Liberale (JuLi's) as well as the FDP Hamburg and second candidate on the federal electoral list of FDP. Together with countless supporters in Germany and Europe, we were campaigning for weeks and months under the motto "Seize Europe's opportunities". On 26th of May 2019 my passion and volunteer work for Europe became my profession and I was elected to the European Parliament. Ever since, my four MEP colleagues from FDP and me, are working to unlock the opportunities of Europe and further develop European integration.
